KEY STEPS IN THE MAKING OF A TIMBER FAN

We pride ourselves on the fact that all our locally produced ceiling fans are handcrafted to individual customer order - we do not keep stock. This may mean that you will have to wait a bit to receive your order, but we believe that the wait will be worth it.

OUR PROCESS

CUT AND MATCH

The individual ceiling fan blades are cut by hand using a jig and are then roughly matched for weight, wood grain texture and pattern into sets of three. They are then sanded, edge-trimmed and sealed or coated.  Then they are weighed again and a final matching into sets of three takes place.

MILLING

Our timber hubs are milled from solid hardwood and then sanded before sealing and/or coating. The hubs in turn will be matched for colour tone and texture with the ceiling fan blades sets they will finally be assigned to.

INSPECTION AND TESTING

Our high quality imported fan motors are subjected to an equally rigorous process of inspection and testing before being passed for transfer to the assembly section.

ASSEMBLY

At the assembly station, each ceiling fan takes final form as the individual components are assembled by hand. Then each ceiling fan is tested for: balance, rpm’s, sound pressure, air volume and electricity consumption. Tolerance levels are tight and any unit not making the grade will be rejected and substituted.

PACKAGING

The final step is to send the completed ceiling fan for packaging where they are expertly and securely packed for collection or delivery throughout the country or for export.

PROCESS

Throughout the process there is no hint of automation or mass-production. We have no intention of changing this approach and trust that our customers would agree with us!
